Style Editor
Is it recommended to enable the Allow CSS Overrides setting?
No. We recommend keeping Allow CSS Overrides disabled so components remain isolated inside a Shadow DOM, preventing global site updates from breaking the display. If an element can't be styled through the Style Editor, you can apply a custom CSS override as a workaround.
Do display modules turn on automatically after integration code is added?
Yes, some do. Certain features turn on automatically, while others must be manually enabled on the Style Editor page to make them visible on your web pages. Contact Bazaarvoice Support if a feature isn't available in the Style Editor.
Can I customize fonts, borders, and background colors across hosted display applications?
Yes. You can customize visual elements including font family, size, colors, borders, and margins across display applications in the Style Editor.
Can I customize star rating graphics and bar colors?
Yes. You can customize icon images, sizes, and colors for both full and empty star states, as well as rating bars, in the Style Editor.
Can submission form button colors be customized for both selected and unselected states?
Yes, for selectable form buttons. The unselected state uses the color set in Fonts > Dimension Values > Font Color. The selected state background uses the Dimension Values color, with text from Fonts > Buttons - Primary > Font Color. Make sure the two colors have enough contrast to remain readable.
Can the spacing or padding around the "In Progress" status badge be adjusted?
No. Font color, border radius, and background color are configurable, but padding and spacing are hardcoded and can't be changed.
Why isn't a saved style change, like a translated button color, showing up?
Most often, the configuration hasn't been deployed yet. Also check that Fonts > Links > link [Font size] isn't set to 0 px, which hides the element entirely.
Is a dark-mode website expected to have a white submission form by default?
Yes. Display and submission styling must be manually aligned to dark mode through the Style Editor, and in-mail templates also require manual background and font color adjustments.
Do removed rating questions disappear from the Style Editor preview immediately after deletion?
No. A new deployment is required for the deletion to take effect. If the question still appears after deploying, verify that the deletion was made directly on the Main Site instance.
Can I prevent mobile auto-zoom issues on review submission form fields?
Set field placeholder text font size to 16px or larger in Style Editor, or set maximum-scale=1.0 in your site's viewport meta tag.
Copy Editor
Can I modify default text and button labels across the display?
Yes. You can use the Copy Editor page to customize default interface text, button labels, and sort options to match your brand voice.
Can I customize interface copy for different locales?
Yes. You can select specific locales from the drop-down menu in the Copy Editor to modify localized interface text.
Do AI-generated summary strings or Copy Editor changes update automatically across all locales and display codes?
No. AI strings must be translated manually for each locale, and all text updates must be applied and deployed individually for every display code and locale pair.
Are all interface text strings available in the Copy Editor?
No. Some strings are hardcoded or managed at the platform level and cannot be modified through Copy Editor.
Terms & Conditions
Can I host my own Terms & Conditions page link on submission forms?
Yes. You can configure terms text acceptance links to point to a remote URL where your terms are hosted. Refer to Customize Terms & Conditions guide for details.
How can custom Terms & Conditions be integrated into submission forms?
You can add custom text in the Agreement Acceptance Text field, link to a remote URL, and add multiple, reorderable consent checkboxes, (e.g., Privacy Policy, Sweepstakes). Submission requires agreement to all mandatory consent checkboxes.
Can contributors submit reviews without accepting the Terms & Conditions?
No. Contributors must agree to your legal terms or mandatory consent checkboxes before they can submit reviews or questions.
Implementation & architecture
Is there a unified location for configuring display options versus style settings?
No. Controls are split: some elements are styled directly through Configuration > Style Editor, while structural features are toggled under Display Options.
Can I enable V2 Q&A without code changes?
Yes. If bv.js (BV Loader) is present on the page and you're using the data-bv-show method to display the Questions application. In this case, you can simply toggle V2 on in the Style Editor. Keep V1 enabled during the transition—V2 automatically takes display precedence over V1.
Can optional fields be forced to "required" if my configuration only lists them as optional?
No. There's no native setting in your configuration to force an optional field to required status.
