Implement cookie consent

Bazaarvoice Vibe uses a single anonymous, first-party cookie (crl8.fpcuid) to track engagement for Galleries. The cookie is compliant with GDPR and CCPA and does not collect any personally identifiable information (PII). If you don't enable cookie consent, the cookie will be set without consent.

Enable and implement cookie consent

Enable and implement cookie consent to require your end users to provide consent before the cookie is set.

Step 1: Enable cookie consent for your brand

Contact Vibe Support to enable cookie consent for your brand. You may need to provide the pages on your site that include Galleries for verification.

You can verify that cookie consent has been enabled in your own browser by opening your browser's developer tools on a page that includes a Gallery and searching for window.crl8.cookieConsent.

Step 2: Implement code to set or remove the cookie

Once we have enabled cookie consent for your brand, the Vibe cookie consent object will be exposed: window.crl8.cookieConsent.

You can set or remove the cookie by calling the setConsent function from your cookie consent platform (for example, OneTrust). The function accepts an object with the cookie name (crl8.fpcuid) as the key and "true" or "false" as the cookie values.

To set the cookie after the end user consents, use the following code:

window.crl8.cookieConsent.setConsent({

"crl8.fpcuid": true

})

To remove the cookie after the user denies consent, use the following code:

window.crl8.cookieConsent.setConsent({

"crl8.fpcuid": false

})

If the end user consents and the cookie is set, the cookie will begin collecting engagement data. If the end user denies consent, the cookie will be removed from cookie storage and it will not collect any data. If a user takes no action, the cookie will not be set and no data will be collected.

Verify consent

To verify that Vibe is correctly interpreting cookie consent statuses, run the following code on your webpage using the browser developer tool before and after consenting:

window.crl8.cookieConsent.getConsent('crl8.fpcuid')

It should return a Boolean:

true // or false
