Video settings

You can add closed captions to videos in Vibe. You can also mute Instagram videos, but not TikTok or YouTube videos.

We recommend you only mute videos with copyrighted songs and sounds. We do not recommend muting videos with the purpose of changing the tone and sentiment of the consumer's opinion. Please review the Bazaarvoice Authenticity Policy before muting user-generated content (UGC).

Include the link to the original content when sharing muted videos to increase transparency.

Video sound control

You can mute a single video or mute multiple videos at the same time.

Mute a single video

Follow these steps to mute a single video:

In Vibe, select the video that you want to mute. The Universal Image Actions (UIA) page will open.
Select the audio icon in the upper-right corner to mute the video. The audio icon will display a line through it when the video is muted.
To unmute the video, select the audio icon again.

You can also mute or unmute a single video by following the steps to mute multiple videos.

Mute multiple videos

Follow these steps to mute multiple videos at the same time:

in Vibe, hover over a video. A checkmark icon will appear.
Select the checkmark icon for each video that you want to mute.
Select Video.
Select Mute.
To unmute, select Unmute.
Once the videos have been muted successfully, refresh the page to view the updated videos.

Note: Videos can't be muted or unmuted in bulk if you only have images selected or have more than 10 videos selected.

Your end users will not have the option to mute or unmute videos and won't be able to unmute by altering their browser. Video audio settings are not permanent and you can mute or unmute at any time in Vibe.

Closed captions

You can add closed captions to a single video or multiple videos at the same time. Closed captions are supported in 100 languages.

Add closed captions to a single video

Follow these steps to add closed captions to a single video:

In Vibe, select the video that you want to add closed captions to. The Universe Image Actions (UIA) page will open.

To turn off closed captions, select the icon again.

Follow these steps to add closed captions to multiple videos:

In Vibe, hover over a video. A checkmark icon will appear.
Select the checkmark icon for each video you want to add closed captions to.
Select Video.
Select Turn on captions.
To remove closed captions, select Turn off captions.

Note: Captions can't be turned on or off in bulk if you only have images selected or have more than 10 videos selected.

Common questions

What kind of audio should I mute?

We recommend you only use this feature to mute videos with copyrighted songs and sounds. We do not recommend muting videos with the purpose of changing the tone and sentiment of the consumer's opinion. Please review the Bazaarvoice Authenticity Policy before removing audio from UGC.

Will my site's users have the ability to mute or unmute videos, and add or remove closed captions?

No. Only you will be able to mute or unmute videos, and add or remove closed captions in Vibe.

If I also have images selected when muting or adding closed captions, what happens to the images?

Muting videos will not affect images. You may get an error when adding closed captions.

What happens if I select videos with different audio settings and change the audio settings?

All videos will be changed. If you have a muted video and an unmuted video selected, and select Mute selected videos, the unmuted video will be muted and the muted video will not change. The same thing will happen when adding or removing captions.

Why can't I preview a muted video?

Muted videos can take up to 5 minutes to generate and 30 minutes to appear on Galleries. Reload the page to view the muted video once it's been generated.

Will muting content affect syndication?

Videos syndicated to the Visual Syndication Network will keep the same audio settings from Vibe. However, individual retailers will have the option to mute or unmute videos. Individual retailer audio settings will not affect your Vibe audio settings or other retailer settings.
