To create a new report, select + New report from the Custom Reports list view.
Select a report template
Each report begins with a template and the available templates vary, depending on your implemented Bazaarvoice solutions. Select a template to get started.
Templates are grouped in two categories:
- Product and program performance
- Data exports
Not sure which template you need? Go to our Report templates article to learn more about each one.
Once you've selected your template, there are four main steps to creating your reports:
- Select the data you want to see
- Decide how you want the data to be grouped
- Narrow the size and focus of your report
- Set the delivery options
1. What data do you want to see?
Choose the metrics you want to include in your report. Depending on the template you select, some metrics are already selected by default. Each metric you select appears as a column on your report. To add or remove metrics:
- Scroll the available metrics or use the Search field to locate the data you want to add to your report.
- Use the arrow controls to move data from Available Metrics to Selected Metrics, or to remove metrics from the Selected metrics list.
- To move multiple metrics, press Shift and select the metrics. Then use the arrow controls to move them as a set.
- To re-order the columns in the report output, drag data fields in Selected Metrics up or down.
2. How do you want it grouped?
Grouping your data by dimensions is a great way to compare performance across different groups, for example, categories. If you didn't include dimensions in your report, fields like the Average product rating would be aggregated for your entire site. Whereas, if you added a category dimension, the report would include a column that displays the average rating for each category.
Dimensions also allow you to rank data to see what is working and what isn't and provide customised reporting to different stakeholders. For example:
- By grouping by Product ID, you can identify which items have the highest % Approved reviews versus those with high rejection rates, helping you spot potential problem products or issues with product descriptions.
- By grouping by Brand, you can get a high-level performance summary of multiple brands in your portfolio.
- By grouping by Product name or SKU, you can view how specific products are performing day-to-day.
To add or remove dimensions:
- Scroll the available dimensions or use the Search field to find the group you want.
- Use the arrow controls to move data from Available dimensions to Selected dimensions. To move multiple dimensions, press Shift and select the dimensions. Then use the arrow controls to move them as a set.
- To re-order the columns in the report output, drag data fields in Selected dimensions up or down.
3. Narrow the size and focus
From here, you can:
Filter reports
Use filters to quickly access common customizations:
- Select or specify a date range for included report data
- Select common report data to include in the report
- Filter the report by product, brand, or category IDs
- Filter the report to one or more product attributes
- Filter the report by product status, moderation status, or moderation codes
The filters available are dependant on the template you selected. To view the filters specific to your template, refer to Reporting templates.
Important considerations when using the date filter
Depending on the report template, you can filter the date using one of the following options:
| Date filter | Description |
|---|---|
| Last available day | Automatically defaults to the 24-hour period before the last available data. For example, if you run a report on the 20th and the data was last available on the 18th, then the report returns the data for the 17th. |
| Yesterday | This date filter applies only to the following report templates:
The filter automatically selects the previous day’s date by default. Data from yesterday becomes available at 08:30 UTC today. If you generate the report earlier, it will be ready only after 08:30 UTC, when the data becomes available. Example: If today is January 10 and you generate yesterday’s report (January 9) at 07:30 UTC, the report will be available only after 08:30 UTC. |
| Last 7 days | Automatically defaults to the last 7 days counting backward from when the data was last available. |
| Last 30 days | Automatically defaults to the last 30 days counting backward from when the data was last available. |
| This month | Automatically defaults to the first day of the current month and the previous day's date. |
| Last month | Automatically defaults to the first and last day of the previous month. We recommend running this on the 4th of the month to ensure it includes all data from the correct month. |
| This quarter | Automatically defaults to the first day of the current quarter to when the data was last available. |
| Last 12 months | Automatically defaults to the last 12 months of data counting backward from when the data was last available. |
| Last year | Automatically defaults to the first and last day of the previous year. We recommend running this on the 4th of the month to ensure it includes all data from the correct year. |
| All time | Automatically defaults to the first day data was available to when the data was last available. |
| Custom | Allows you to manually enter a specific date range. This option is also automatically selected if you modify a pre-defined date filter. |
If you select a pre-defined range, for example, Last 7 days, and apply a schedule to the report, the dates shown in the pre-defined range will automatically update each schedule.
If you select a custom date range, the date selected will be applied to any schedules you create for the report. For example, if you set a custom date for June 18th and you have weekly reports scheduled, the start date for these reports will be June 18th unless you edit this. The best practice is to use the Custom filter for one time reports, for example, to get a report for a specific set of months and then reset the date filter once your report has run.
If you include yesterday in your date range filter, the data from yesterday becomes available only at 08.30 UTC today. If you generate the report earlier, you can expect it to be ready at 08:30 UTC. This is applicable only for the following report templates:
- R&R Key Metrics
- Q&A Key Metrics
- R&R Trends
- Q&A Trends
- Download reviews (R&R Export)
- Download questions and answers (Q&A Export)
Example 1:
If today is January 10 and you generate yesterday’s report (January 9) at 07:30 UTC, the report will be available at 08:30 UTC.
Example 2:
If today is January 10 and you generate the report for the last 7 days at 08:30 UTC, the report will include data from up to January 9.
If you generate the report for the last 7 days before 08:30 UTC, the report will not be sent until the data from January 9 becomes available.

4. Set delivery options
Use delivery options to:
Name the report
Enter a unique name for the report. As your list of reports grows, naming your reports consistently will help you sort and locate them.
Select the report language
Select the language in which you want the report. Supported languages are English, Français, and Deutsch.
Select the report format
Select XLSX (Microsoft Excel 2007+) or CSV (plain text, double-quoted, comma-separated values). If you select XLSX, optionally include report details in the report header. Details include the report name, date range, and other selected filters.
Schedule the report (optional)
Select daily, weekly, or monthly to run the report on a predetermined date. Scheduled reports are generated at 00 UTC. Depending on your timezone, you may receive your report the day before or the day after your scheduled date. This does not change the data in your report.
- None - returns a one-time report that provides data from the dates selected in the date filter
- Daily - returns a report each day that provides data from the last day that was available
- Weekly - returns a report each week on the day that you choose and provides data from the last day that was available
- Monthly - returns a report each month on the day that you choose and provides data from the last day that was available
Select recipients (optional)
By default, you will receive an emailed copy of your report each time it runs.
To send the report to another qualified recipient, enter a valid email address and select Add. Repeat this step for each intended recipient. Bazaarvoice sends qualified recipients an email notification that includes a link to download the report when available.
Run the report
When you have finished making selections, select:
- Run report for on-demand reports where the schedule is set to None, or
- Schedule report for scheduled reports
A message indicates that the report was successfully submitted, and the new report appears in the list. For reports where the schedule is set to None, Generating... appears under the Action Menu to indicate the report is running.
