Bazaarvoice strongly recommends migrating from the legacy "Scout" file (bvapi.js) to the optimized loader (bv.js). The bv.js migration offers significant improvements in page load speed, asynchronous execution, and access to new reporting features.
Identify your current version
Check your website source code. If you see the following script, you are on the legacy v1 system:
src="https://display.ugc.bazaarvoice.com/static/<client>/bvapi.js"
How to migrate
Follow these three steps to modernize your integration:
-
Replace the script:
Remove the bvapi.js script and replace it with the bv.js loader in your <head>. The new script should be
https://apps.bazaarvoice.com/deployments/<client>/<site>/production/<locale>/bv.js -
Update the event syntax:
Legacy v1 used
$BV.SI.trackTransaction. In v2, you must use the globalwindow.bv.pushmethod. -
Update parameter names:
Ensure your data mapping aligns with the new schema (for example, ensuring
orderIdandtotalare correctly formatted strings/decimals).
